Tashi Gomang is a monastery in the Nyingma Buddhist tradition.  Situated at this monastery is the most powerful sacred site in the entire region, called the Self Arisen Stupa.  The site has a rich and authentic history.

There is a regular summer retreat and a Three Year Retreat facility for the monks and yogis of Tashi Gomang.  The meditators here are very sincere in their practices, but are very poor, so the challenges they face are great.  During the great upheaval in 1959, all monasteries were destroyed.  Recently, however, they have started to rebuild.

Tashi Gomang also has several branch monasteries.  In Lhasa is Dudul Palchen Monastery, and connected with it are a number of sacred sites.  In Utsang (Central Tibet) is Tod Zawulong, a holy place of Padmasambhava .  Also in Utsang is Shamda Palchen Monastery.  This was the seat of one master from a group of three important Nyingma masters (So, Zur, and Nub) Zurchen Shakya Jungnay.
